Philadelphia Union vs. DC United Preview/Prediction

DC United are visiting Talen Energy Stadium on Saturday searching for their second straight win, and I must say I like our odds.

The Union are coming off a 2-0 loss at Dallas, giving them an identical records with us, though have a worse goal difference (I didn't know that was possible).

Philly's only goal in their last five games came at home against a 10-man San Jose (they drew 1-1) and their only win came against New England in their season opener.

The teenage Union defense looked extremely loose against Dallas, and the only Philly chance against Dallas that made it to the highlights was when C.J. Sapong crossed the ball to a teammate while he was clearly out of bounds. Jesse Gonzalez didn't even bother making the save.

Things do get weird against this team though. Who could forget our last meeting with them during the preseason when Lucho scored right after Cory Burke equalized? But the Union this year is so leaky that even Andre Blake can't bail them out of two consecutive 2-0 losses.

Paul Arriola will miss this match, though I have a feeling we don't really need him. Russel Canouse should probably be able to play. If he only has 45 in him, sub him out at halftime, but he MUST play.

That being said, here is my projected lineup:

------------------------------------Mattocks(Mullins)------------------------------------

Asad-----------------------------Acosta(Segura)---------------------------------Stieber

--------------------Canouse(Durkin)--------------------Moreno------------------------

Mora--------------------Brillant-------------Birnbaum-----------------------DeLeon

-----------------------------------------Clark---------------------------------------------------

Segura had a very impressive showing and should be subbed in for Lucho.

Clark definitely starts over Ousted, though I think the d-mid where the the only ones there are Durkin and Canouse, who are just blasting every ball they get 200000 miles forward will have to wait some time.

I guess that's about it with the lineup.

My prediction is that we dominate but are unable to score until suddenly we start wreaking havoc on the young Philly defense and Canouse plays a killer ball to Mattocks near the 60th minute. Mattocks does one of his high jump headers and we go ahead.

Then Zoltan beats two players and sets up Brillant with a beautiful curler.

Then we start passing to random places for no purpose until the game's over.

Well, there you have it!
