Projected starters for those on International Duty and DCU's projected line up against Columbus

As most leagues around the world will take a break for the International friendlies over the weekend, MLS will continue with its league play this weekend and almost all the teams in the league including D.C. United who visit the Columbus Crew this weekend. With all the International friendlies taking place, some players have been summoned to play for their national teams this week and DC is not the exception to the rule, as five players have been called up to their respective national teams and they are Ulises Segura (Costa Rica), Zoltan Stieber (Hungary), Oneil Fisher (Jamaica) along with Richmond Kicker loaness Dane Kelly, also called up to the Jamaican national team and Bruno Miranda who was called up to the Bolivian national team. The Crew have also getting call ups for international duty as Zach Steffen and Will Trapp were called up the USMNT friendly in Cary, NC against Paraguay.

So the question going into the game Saturday against Columbus for coach Ben Olsen is who do you start to play in place of those who will be on International duty. The answer to those questions for United are obvious in that department. Olsen will most likely use Paul Arriola as the replacement for Stieber in the midfield. Arriola who was not called up for the friendly against Paraguay, by USMNT interim head coach Dave Sarachan, will most be used to play out wide on the right hand side, while placing Lucho Acosta in the middle in a more attacking midfield role behind Darren Mattocks, and keep Yamil Asad out wide on the left hand side.

The question that Ben Olsen really has to ask himself is who does he put in his back midfield line as Segura is on International duty and Junior Moreno is nursing a hamstring injury and his participation for Saturday's game is in doubt. The two main candidates to replace Segura and Moreno are Ian Harkes and Chris Durkin. Harkes who was a regular starter last season, has played 30 minutes so far this season would be able to form a partnership with Durkin and help the rookie get ease his way up the field a little more while plays more of the recovery role in the back field that Moreno has played in the early part of the season, which better fit Ben Olsen's playing system. This almost all but insures that Durkin will clock in his first start in his professional career with the Black and Red. The 18 year old who has gotten some minutes off the bench in the first three games of the season. In the last game against Houston, Durkin had impressing showing coming in the 70th minute. He was able to demonstrate a lot of the qualities that has him touted as one of the most promising talents in the league, one of the highlights of his great showing was a great pass to Yamil Asad late in the game that Assad shot straight at Dynamo goalkeeper Chris Seitz to win a corner kick.

With Fisher gone for International duty, responsibities on right back have fallen in the lap of Costa Rican defender Joseph Mora, who would make his 2nd start in a United Jersey, after an impressing in his debut against the Dynamo.

With all the replacements This could be D.C. United's starting XI against the Crew: (4-2-3-1)

GK- David Ousted

Def-Nick DeLeon, Fredric Brilliant, Steve Birnbaum, Joseph Mora

Mid- Ian Harkes, Chris Durkin, Paul Arriola, Luciano Acosta, Yamil Asad

Fwd- Darren Mattocks
