Tonight, the Washington Spirit face the Houston Dash were going to have their second and final meeting of the NWSL regular season, but Mother Nature got in the way. Tonight's game has been postponed to an as-yet-unknown later date due to torrential rains in Texas:

Judging from the conditions at BBVA Compass Stadium, it's not hard to see why. Despite being only a few years old, Houston's stadium had no chance to drain in the face of a day-long downpour. Dash forwards Melissa Henderson and Janine Beckie combined to show the extent of the problem:

Both teams were missing their USWNT players because the national team is in a short camp ahead of their June 2nd and June 5th friendlies, both against Japan. For the Spirit, that would have meant playing without Ali Krieger and Crystal Dunn, while Morgan Brian would have missed out for the Dash. The Spirit were also going to be without rookie forward Cheyna Williams after she sprained her ankle last week.
Unless the game is rescheduled between now and then, the Spirit will return to action on June 10th with a road game against the Boston Breakers.
