GameThread: D.C. United At L.A. Galaxy
The top team in the league versus the bottom team in the league shouldn't be much of a contest, right? Well we'll find out tonight as D.C. United visits the MLS leading L.A. Galaxy. United has nothing left to play for but an attempt to avoid being the worst MLS team of all time, while the Galaxy are in the middle of a race for the Supporters' Shield that has them currently tied with Real Salt Lake, but with a game in hand.
Game time: 10:30 PM
Television: Fox Soccer Channel
Projected Starting Lineup: D.C. is likely to use the same forwards and wingers, but tonight's lineup should see the return of Branko Boskovic as a partner for Clyde Simms in central midfield. We may also get our first chance to see newly signed Carlos Varela and Junior Carreiro as late substitutions. In goal, Troy Perkins will get another shot at saving his career which was hanging in the balance just a few weeks ago.
This is your place for pre-game, in-game, and post-game thoughts. And perhaps a glimpse of David Beckham in a size 2T shirt.

Starters
I’m somewhat out of the loop this week. Any idea why Simms and Boskovic aren’t starting?

Just got home and turned the game on. What have I missed? Judging from Shatz’s tweets, Perkins is being a bamf?

Few
He’s made a few very nice saves thus far. Andy has looked real sharp and Hernandez has shown some creativity as well.

Perkins and James looking pretty darn good
Offense is performing as usual. Generating some minor chances, but nothing to get excited about

I wonder if JJ just excels near the end of seasons. Scores a goal last match, plays exceptionally well today. Remember the final game last season he nearly got us into the playoffs!

Allsopp
Allsopp has been a waste up top. Besides a few flashes from Pablo, United is getting nothing centrally.

I appreciate the uniqueness of being an American soccer fan. Waking up for EPL matches at 7:30 AM, then staying up for West Coast games at 10:30 PM… European soccer fans don’t get to do this.

Tino
Why didn’t Tino shoot that? Worked out but terrible decision by Tino.

Come on United
OK, for totally selfish reasons I really hope United can get the win. They haven’t played poorly these last two matches, considering the injury issues. So does Ben get to keep the job if they win 2-3 more?

Let’s hold on for this win first. It’s still LA. Allsopp off for Simms is a good start.

Interim
United FO has stated it’s strictly an interim position. However, I wouldn’t mind it being permanent. He has them playing hard.

This loss was nothing to be ashamed about. For 80 minutes, this is the best we’ve seen this season. It’s just too bad it ended in a way that was all too familiar.

Poor Coaching Decisions
Bosko should have come in for Alsopp—he brought nothing, and King and Morsink had everything under control. Simms came in and it all fell apart. Get him to Germany for the surgery! Why not give our two guys more than 60 seconds to influence the match?
