Jakovic joins Pontius & half the team on the sidelines
It just emerged that Dejan Jakovic has a broken clavicle and will miss 4-6 weeks, just like Chris Pontius (hamstring). In other news, a plague of locusts has descended on RFK Stadium. Hide your first-born sons!

Forget training. United needs to lock Santino Quaranta and Rodney Wallace in padded rooms for the next 10 days.

The following thought crossed my mind at dinner
“With Pontius out, Shipalane won’t be playing in games on loan because we’ll need him on the bench.”
Things are that bad.

Enter Junior
Maybe he’ll be playing the Shipilane role of “young guy we’re enamored with but who needs a lot of work.” I refuse to state where that elevates Shipilane.
About that beer…

Why is it???
Why is it that every other team seems to have African, Columbian etc. guys fall into their laps and tear it up and DCU gets guys who can’t seem to ever really crack the first team? (I know, scouting…)

On the Africans around the league that are succeeding, many are being plucked straight out of African leagues. The Revs, for example, scout there extensively (extensively for MLS, anyway).
The Colombian hook-up appears to be former Chicago/KC midfielder Diego Gutierrez. Maybe we just haven’t bothered to call him up? It is very puzzling to me that we see guys like Hurtado, Olave, Montero, and Benitez popping up on other MLS clubs, as well as guys that just arrived like Pablo Escobar, and we’re sitting around in need of help at central midfield and up top (places we needed help before the season started).
