PU joins SBN, threatens blog war
The newest blog to join SBNation's ever expanding MLS network is Brotherly Game, a blog in support of the Philadelphia Union.
It should be no surprise that Union fans will be like a combination of Sounders fans and Flyers fans, with the worst qualities of each. At least the SSFC franchise did technically have a few decades of history when they joined MLS. PU has nothing. Hell, they haven't even played a game yet! But their fans will probably still be arrogant and think that they should run the place.
So feel free to stop by and say hello to Brothely Game, or just ignore them, which is probably about what they deserve. We can all probably expect to hear some snide comments from PU fans about how their team is great because they'll have decent attendance numbers. While in the mean time we'll beat them twice a year.

As long as they don’t claim to have “saved” MLS (Toronto) or “invented” soccer fan culture in the US (Seattle), Philly will be just fine.
Oh, and tonight will likely be the only time I’m rooting for a Philly Union win. Would just love to see SSFC fans with egg on their face. That really is the proper way to start a season.

Find me a Sounders fan that claims to have invented the soccer culture in the USA
I worked with hundreds of Sounders fans and nearly 100 more on the Supporters Summit, and NOT a one claims that.
Odd though that DC United fans refused to participate in said event.

They mostly reside in the Twitterverse.
It was largely in the run-up to the USOC Final, when everyone made stupid claims, and some Seattle supporters claimed that Qwest Field was home to the first Euro/South American atmosphere in MLS, which just isn’t true. Perhaps I could have been more precise with my wording.
As for the Supporters’ Summit, I was very much a poor student last fall (and now I’m a poor first-year at work!), and in no way could afford a flight out to Seattle. I can’t speak on the Summit or who was there. Next time the MLS Cup is in DC, though, I’ll buy you a beer at Molly Malone’s or Lucky Bar.

I was more frustrated about the refusal to participate
Not that people could not come, but an actual refusal by DC SGs to participate.

I’m in La Barra Brava, but I’m not involved in any decision-making, and so I can’t speak on the Summit. If all three groups chose not to participate, as you’re saying, I’d imagine it was for some reason. That’s just speculation, though - like I said, I have zero actual knowledge on the subject.

I'm housesitting on Capitol Hill
After work, I decided to go over to Molly Malone’s to watch the Philly/*****ers game. I was a bit shocked to find that it wasn’t even on one TV. This is still a soccer/United bar, right? I know it’s the Sweet Sixteen and all, but still… Opening Day! Luckily Lola’s had it on, though I didn’t get to eat my salmon burger.
I’m not sure it’s possible for me to hate Fredy Montero more.
