Coming into today's Hexagonal games, the United States is one of only two teams with a win in two matches. Of course, we're also one of only two teams with a loss, which does take away somewhat from that feeling. Mexico, our hosts and opponents tonight, have two draws to their credit. Of course, all of that will have precisely no bearing on tonight's World Cup Qualifier between the top two teams in CONCACAF. You know all about the injury (and sabbatical) concerns facing Jurgen Klinsmann's side, and you know all about the history facing the USMNT tonight. So all that's left is to give you the details and kick this sucker off.
Time: 10:30 pm EDT
TV: ESPN, Univision, live streaming on WatchESPN
Venue: Estadio Azteca, Mexico City, Mexico
Projected USA Starters: Brad Guzan in goal is just about the only thing we know for certain. But I'll project the back line to look about the same as it did in Denver for the game against Costa Rica: Geoff Cameron, Omar Gonzalez, Clarence Goodson, DaMarcus Beasley. Look for Klinsy's safety blanket 3-defensive midfielder formation, though, with Kyle Beckerman sitting behind Michael Bradley and Maurice Edu, with Clint Dempsey and Herculez Gomez running the wings. Jozy Altidore should get the nod up front.
Prediction: It's hard to predict a win for the U.S. here, even with the friendly win in the Azteca last August. The Yanks haven't even taken a point off of Mexico in any competitive match (i.e. not a friendly) since 1981, so as much as it pains me, I have to pick El Tri in this one, 3-1.
What Are You Drinking?: I'll be having a Yeungling tonight. It's America's oldest brewery still in operation, and we need all the help our forefathers can give us from the great beyond.
This is your place for pre-game, in-game and post-game discussion.
