Saturday afternoon's 3-0 loss to FC Dallas was not pretty, but for D.C. United seeing them in the disrepair as they were was, in a humorous topical phrase, not great Bob. But more specifically, Bobby Boswell, as we're about to illustrate.
Looking at the first goal, while the easiest thing to examine is the miscommunication between Kofi Opare and Taylor Kemp, the positioning of Boswell wasn't much to behold after stepping up to head a ball and losing Maximiliano Urruti in the process:
Next up is a first half miscommunication between Fabian Espindola (who apparently thought he could have regained that ball he lost) and Patrick Nyarko (who was in a better position to pick it up), and the resulting pass left Chris Rolfe offside:
On Dallas' second goal, Boswell giveth, and giveth some more. After this goal, Marcelo Sarvas gave him a piece of his mind, presumably for missing the handoff in coverage:
On this one, Boswell, too far up the field again, pays for it...
This next one was a marvel to see for both Dallas' quickness in the counter and more diligent (and downright futile) backtracking from Boswell:
The next one shows Boswell coming very far into Dallas' end to win a ball from Maxi Urruti and almost paying for it, again, moments later:
Finally, Mauro Diaz gets in on the act, as Boswell is left to meekly grasp at Diaz before conceding a free kick just outside the D.C. area:
