U.S. Soccer has announced their ballot of nominees for the 2017 Hall of Fame Class and among them are current D.C. United coach Ben Olsen and former Black-and-Red player Jaime Moreno are on the list.
Along with Moreno and Olsen, there are a number of local players on the list, including former Washington Freedom (and United States) goalkeeper Briana Scurry, and former Black-and-Red players Josh Wolff and Pat Onstad, both of whom admittedly received their notoriety elsewhere. In addition, Marco Etcheverry and Roy Wegerle are on the Veterans’ List for consideration this year, and former D.C. United President and CEO Kevin Payne appears on the List in the Builders’ Category.
Voting results and inductees will be announced later this year, with the Hall of Fame currently being build at FC Dallas’ stadium in Frisco, Texas. The anticipated date of completion of the Hall of Fame and museum is for the Winter of 2018.
