GameThread: D.C. United At Toronto FC
Following D.C. United's Open Cup semi-final loss to the Columbus Crew, we identified a few things that our team still has to play for this year:
1. Catch the Philadelphia Union - They're still only six points ahead of us.
2. Avoid historical ineptitude - Scoring at least 11 goals and earning at least seven points in our final seven matches would allow us to avoid the "worst of all-time" moniker.
A couple goals and three points today against Toronto FC would be a great start to accomplishing each of those humble milestones.
Game Time: 4:00 PM Eastern
Television: Comcast SportsNet
Projected Started Lineup: Injuries are beginning to take their toll on United once again, forcing us to have very few lineup decisions to make. The same front six is extremely likely. The only questions will be at the fullback positions, where Ben Olsen will have to choose between Devon McTavish, Jordan Graye, and Jed Zayner for two spots; and at the goalkeeper position, where the team will have to decide whether or not to shut down Bill Hamid for the year and go back to Troy Perkins.
This is your place for pre-game, in-game, and post-game discussions. Let's get some goals!

TFC lineup
4312, right to left:
Frei; Garcia, Attakora, Cann, Hscanovics; Gargan, De Guzman, Saric; De Rosario; Mista, Santos
Bench: Conway, Harden, Henry, Nane, LaBrocca, Peterson, White.
Good news: Najar is going to eat Hscanovics alive. If you haven’t seen Hscanovics, you’ll now get to join the rest of us in wondering how he got an MLS roster spot anywhere.
Bad news: Mista and Santos are both fit to play. TFC just got much more dangerous than they have been in the past few weeks.

Simms out
Clyde Simms aggravated an injury in warmups and will be replaced by Kurt Morsink in the starting lineup.

Half time
I think we’ve looked pretty good, but I’m a little worried about how we closed the half. We started to get a little sloppy, and spent too much time with the ball in central midfield. If we get back to getting the ball to the wings early on, we’ll be alright. TFC looks very nervous, and their fans seem to be feeding that anxiety. This game is there for us to take.
Oh, and Morsink is playing terribly. No big surprise. I believe he’s been involved on almost every Toronto chance, either through missed tackles or bad clearances. We’d be better with McTavish there, even if that was a Soehn experiment that didn’t really work.
