The final game of the 2014 preseason is upon us, with D.C. United taking on the Seattle Sounders to decide the winner of the Carolina Challenge Cup. A win by either team would give them the Cup, whereas a tie would likely give the cup to United based on the first tie-breaker, which is goal differential. It will also be the last tuneup for the first team players before the opening game against the Columbus Crew, and so should give us the last insight into Ben Olsen's opening day lineup.
Time: 5 PM EST
Venue: Blackbaud Stadium, Charleston, SC
Live Streaming: Like all of the other games so far, the game will be streamed on YouTube. This time, let us hope for less buffering and stream drops than the last game.
Previews: You can read our Behind Enemy Lines segment with the Sounders' blog Sounder At Heart or watch D.C. United's video preview.
Projected D.C. United lineup: As I said above, I expect D.C. United to go with their first-choice lineup. This means Bill Hamid in goal, with Sean Franklin, Bobby Boswell, Jeff Parke, and Christian in front of him. Perry Kitchen will play defensive midfield, with Nick DeLeon, Luis Silva, and Davy Arnaud in attacking midfield. Eddie Johnson and Fabian Espindola will be the forwards.
Prediction: United's first-choice defense continues its impressive defense performance by shutting out the Sounders; on the other side, Eddie Johnson scores his first goal of the preseason to give United a 1-0 win.
What are you drinking? I am going to the Enlightened Despot beer release party hosted by Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery, so some of that most likely.
As always, this is your place for pre-game, in-game, and post-game chatter.
