When people look back on the 2016 Major League Soccer regular season and want to define certain weeks of league play, they can file this week under the "Nobody Wanted To Win" category. Eight of the 13 matches played this week ended with both teams splitting points. Only the New York Red Bulls, Real Salt Lake, the Portland Timbers, New York City FC and the Seattle Sounders notched victories last weekend. For the others, it was a series of slugfests that yielded very few points added to the Supporters Shield standings.
This is the time of year where teams really start to separate themselves. By now, you probably have a good idea of who the good teams are. You're only wondering which of those teams is going to make a run. With the 2016 Copa America Centenario and Euro 2016 fast approaching, teams will want to gather some more precious points before they lose key players in a couple weeks for upwards of a month. Draws are okay for now, but pretty soon fans will want their teams adding 3 points to their total and not just one.
Most of the Top 10 remains relatively unchanged this week, with the LA Galaxy remaining at number one. Our beloved D.C. United fall a spot this week to #15, while the new basement dwellers is the Houston Dynamo. And now, it's your turn to give us your thoughts. Who's slotted too high? Who's too low? Where do you place the Black-and-Red? Hit up the comments and let's hear ya!
