In an email to premium Season Ticket Holders (and those who have held tickets since the team's inaugural season), D.C. United says they will be unveiling the new badge to their Season Ticket Holders at a release party December 10 at Union Market. Along with purchasing merchandise with the new badge, there will be the chance to 'mingle with players and staff...' and '...enjoy complimentary food and beverages...' from Ben's Chili Bowl (future Buzzard Point vendor, hint hint). Emails to the entire STH will be sent next week, but the promotion is below:
Team officials had been planning this event for several weeks now, ran the badge by some focus groups, and the new badge was the subject of strenuous speculation here and elsewhere. There is some thought that were the team to defeat the New York Red Bulls Sunday and flirt with a 5th MLS Cup Finals appearance that a reveal could happen earlier.
Nevertheless, Jason Levien's discussion about brand enhancements (which have been part of several other MLS teams in the past) continues to sally forth. So bring on December 10, otherwise root like hell for the change in plans.
