As you all know by now, D.C. United is rumored to be unveiling a new badge for next season. A D.C. United fan on Instragram found the following new branding for United; apparently it was floating around at one of the tailgates today. From what we have heard from people who have seen it, this is not the badge that United will have next year, so this may have been a draft during the design process, or it might just be a fan creation. It may give us some insight into what the team is thinking as they designed the new bager, however.
Personally, I like the D.C. flag imagery right in he center of the badge, replacing the soccer ball on the previous version. It still keeps the same general shape as the old badge as well, and I like the update to the eagle. However, I hope they do something a little better with the typeface and the position of the text, because having D.C. United in the corner is a little disappointing. When the final version is out, we of course will bring that to you as well.
