Fantasy Focus: Don't think I'm loco

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

It's a cold world. You could use some hot cocoa.

A score of 79 points led the league this week, as Lord Sauro(n) set the pace. Mauro Diaz (DAL, $10.4) captained the team, and scored 22 points on the strength of a goal. Namesake Gaston Sauro (CLB, $7.6) earned a clean sheet and 9 points, followed by his teammate Harrison Afful ($7.1), with a clean sheet of his own. #Gio'd leads overall.

Positional Leaders

Goalkeepers

Bobby Shuttleworth (NE, $5.8) saved two penalties to score 13 points, easily leading the goalkeepers. The pair of Matt Lampson (CHI, $4.6) and Joe Bendik (ORL, $5.0) earned clean sheets and 9 points each. D.C.'s Travis Worra ($4.1) scored 3 points.

Defenders

Fabinho (PHI, $6.7) earned a clean sheet and added an assist for 13 points, earning the positional lead. Orlando's Rafael Ramos (ORL, $6.2) duplicated Fabinho's feat, but scored 11 points in the process. The pair of Waylon Francis (CLB, $6.9) and Ronald Matarrita (NYC, $7.6) tallied clean sheets and 10 points each. For United, Steve Birnbaum ($7.5) led with 5 points, followed by the trio of Sean Franklin ($7.9), Bobby Boswell ($8.1), and Taylor Kemp ($7.6), who each scored 4 points.

Midfielders

The Red Bulls pair of Sacha Kljestan ($11.2) and Felipe Martins ($8.7) led with 14 and 12 points respectively -- Kljestan with a goal and an assist, and Martins with two goals. Mauro Diaz's 11 points were matched by Pedro Morales (VAN, $10.8), who scored two goals. United's midfield was led by Patrick Nyarko ($6.9) and Marcelo Sarvas ($7.1) with 4 points, followed by the trio of Nick DeLeon ($6.5), Lamar Neagle ($7.5), and Chris Rolfe ($8.9), who each scored 3 points.

Forwards

CJ Sapong (PHI, $8.1) scored two goals and 17 points, leading all forwards and all players. Fanendo Adi (POR, $10.2) scored two goals of his own for 15 points, and Gyasi Zardes (LA, $9.5) did the same for 14 points. DCU featured Fabian Espindola ($9.9) with 8 points, Luciano Acosta ($8.7) with 2, and Alvaro Saborio ($7.5) with 1.

Looking Ahead

It's the first two-game week of the year, with DCU, Dallas, New England, and Vancouver playing twice. Everyone else plays once. The round starts on Saturday, and lasts two weeks, through Sunday, April 3rd. Bobby Shuttleworth is your man in goal, with games @NYC and vs. NYR. In defense, use Tim Parker (VAN, $6.5) vs. HOU & LA. Pedro Morales is probably a better option in midfield than Mauro Diaz if picking between the two, because Dallas will be missing a lot of players due to callups. At forward, gamble with Juan Agudelo (NE, $8.4), especially with the Red Bulls' injury ravaged defense.
