MLS All-Star GameThread
The MLS All-Stars are undefeated all time against foreign clubs (other than a penalty kick loss to Everton last year, but we don't count that), but never before have they played the best known soccer team on the planet. Manchester United will be in Houston tonight, and I'm ready to be entertained.
Game time: 8:30 PM EST
Television: ESPN2
The MLS All-Stars feature four members of the L.A. Galaxy, each of whom is well rested following the team's 4-1 loss to the Puerto Rico Islanders last night. Wait, I should clarify. Donovan Ricketts and Omar Gonzalez are well rested because they were given the night off. Landon Donovan and Edson Buddle actually rested by giving less than their full effort while playing 90 minutes.
The storyline that every D.C. United fan will be following is that of Jaime Moreno. The MLS all-time leading goal scorer was the butt of many jokes as soccer fans across the country criticized his inclusion on the roster. For some reason, it feels like Moreno has a lot to prove tonight, even though he has had unquestionably the greatest career in the history of the league. We would personally like nothing more than to see Moreno score the winning goal tonight.
