Fitting that the US manages to score

With Buddle in the game and Bornstein not. Just a coincidence, I’m sure.

Best case scenario for today

USA wins by two. Slovenia and England tie. Ghana and Australia both win.

This would set up USA vs Australia in the next round, and a potential quarterfinal matchup against the winner of Uruguay and North Korea.

Come on yanks!

So jazzed for this, lets get a goal early to get the monkey off our back and then proceed to pour in the goals after that….
Go USA!!!

Honestly, I would be ok with 0-0 at halftime. As long as we don’t concede a goal early, I have faith that we’ll finish them off in the second half.

Second half or second minute of added time? This team is gonna give me a heart attack one of these days.

Huge Win

That was a great game. Can’t believe some of those opportunities we couldn’t finish on. I don’t like Dempsey on those direct kicks though, both the ones he took were awful, 0 for 2 on goal, both sailed over the crossbar with no threat to the keeper. Other than that though he’s solid as always.

Our defense looked shaky in the beginning without Gooch in there but that’s better than Gooch letting a guy have a clear shot on goal or keep a guy onside. They looked lost and weren’t talking, I thought they were going to run into eachother a couple times. Bornstein looked solid though. He was shutting it down at left back.

Ref’s weren’t too bad, missed things here and there but you can’t expect them to be perfect. Except they took away another goal from us, initially I thought he was offsides as well but that espn 360 axis thing showed he was onsides. I’m just happy that didn’t come back to haunt us, two unallowed goals leading to us not moving on. That would have been horrible.

As much as I love to play the bitter fan

And trust me - I really do - I’m even happier that the disallowed goals had no bearing on our final placement in the group, as we couldn’t possibly have finished any higher than the first place where we ended up.

Ain’t football a funny game?
