An entirely too early look at D.C. United's 2016 starting lineup, Mix & the dancing bear edition

Turning a hat enthusiast and a United killer into Good Guys.

We've all had a full week to recover from Thanksgiving - and if you haven't eaten them already, it's probably time to throw out whatever leftovers remain in your fridge. We have yet to run out of ideas we wouldn't mind Ben Olsen and Dave Kasper stealing for D.C. United in 2016. See the rest of our way-too-early lineup predictions in our StoryStream.

GK: Bill Hamid. My gut says he's not leaving for European pastures this winter, and damn will it be awesome to have him back. The best GK in MLS will still be starting for the Black-and-Red.

RB: Sean Franklin. He was hurt a lot this year, but he's dependable when he's in the lineup. Hopefully he's injury-free in 2016 and can be our main right back during the season.

CB: Bobby Boswell. He's on the downturn in his career, but he's the captain and he's still pretty solid in the middle. His leadership keeps the future Birnbaum-Opare middle pairing waiting one more season.

CB: Steve Birnbaum. I think he wins out the job over Kofi Opare to be in the starting lineup.

LB: Taylor Kemp. He improved a lot this year and I think he will be the one that makes the biggest leaps in the offseason to become our go-to left back.

CDM: Markus Halsti. I think that Perry heads for Europe and Halsti is our defensive midfielder at the back of the diamond

RM: Mix Diskerud. Yep, here's my pipe dream right here. I think with Kitchen being gone for Europe and the team trying to bring in someone to ignite the fanbase, who better than one of the fan favorites of the U.S. Men's National Team? Pairing him with NDL on the other side would be a nice little sight, with Aguilar coming on later as a super sub to just wear teams out. Also, we need to get younger and this is a part of that transition.

LM: Nick DeLeon. NDL has played on the left before even though I think he's probably better on the right, but having someone who's still young and has loads of experience is going to be necessary. He's dangerous on the side and can hopefully help wear defenders down.

CAM: Chris Rolfe. I think the team has him playing primarily at the front of the diamond making it rain to DeLeon on the flank and up to our forwards. He's probably got the most spark of the midfielders and his ability to get into the right space will help us create more chances and get shots on goal and into the back of the net. Plus, being able to slip into space is going to continue to allow him to score buckets of goals.

F: Fabian Espindola. Fabi will be our second striker and he will probably lead the team in assists as well as punch in goals. He'll be able to confuse and nag defenders by running all over the box with the ball and either send it towards the net or find Rolfe or Bruin who will finish anything from inside 10 yards.

F: Will Bruin. Here's our main target. Bruin has been very good at punching in goals inside the box and he will put balls on net every single game. We need someone like that and so he's the guy that we should look at trying to acquire in the offseason.
