Despite a late red card, Richmond had enough in the tank to advance on penalties over Reading United of the PDL. Goalkeeper Trevor Spangenberg made 2 saves in the shootout. No one from United played for the Kickers, as that would tie them to Richmond for the rest of the Open Cup.
