Report: Perry Kitchen to sign with Scotland club Hearts

The former D.C. midfielder apparently has a new home.

The Scotland version of The Sun is reporting that former D.C. United (and current United States) midfielder Perry Kitchen is about to sign for Heart of Midlothian F.C., aka Hearts, in Premier League of Scotland. Kitchen, who turned 24 yesterday and played in the United States' national team camp in January, is expected join the club tomorrow with an official announcement.

Hearts is currently 3rd in the Scottish premier league, and at 11 points (and a 25 goal differential over 4th place Ross County), would certainly be cemented for a place in the UEFA Europa League tournament. That said, compared to sides like Denmark and Sweden, where it was thought Kitchen was to be headed, Scotland seems like a spot for Kitchen to get some visibility to move to a bigger club in Europe to get the Champions League experience he so desires.

Regardless of where he goes AFTER Scotland, it should be noted D.C. retain his rights should he desire to return to Major League Soccer, so a team would have to acquire said rights from D.C. to bring him back to America at the club level.
