It is my birthday and because of that and because Caitlin is now the overseas division of Black and Red United, I have returned to you, however briefly, to give you some links. Since it is my birthday I have taken the day off and am going to break in my new smoker by smoking a pork butt for like 12 hours. Yay!
As an aside, I watched the game on ESPN+ last night, and between my viewing and from what I heard from many other people, it was not a good experience. Hopefully whatever issues Sinclair or Comcast or whomever’s fault it was get ironed out before the weekend. But anything rather than talking about the play on the field....
D.C. United suffer crushing 2-0 loss to Philadelphia Union - Black And Red United: Aw heck, I guess we have to talk about it. This was really bad, especially in the second half, against a team they absolutely needed to beat to get into the playoffs. The stretch run isn’t any easier.
D.C. United’s home winning streak crashes to halt vs. Union - The Washington Post: Goff’s take
Game Recap: Philadelphia Union beat DC United 2-0 at Audi Field - Brotherly Game: And our friends in Philly weigh in.
Clint Dempsey officially retires - Sounder At Heart: One of the best men to every play soccer for the USA hangs it up effective immediately. If you haven’t seen it, go find the clip of his chip against Juventus when he was playing for Fulham in the Europa League. Thanks, Deuce.
MLS fines Zlatan Ibrahimovic for alleged 'slap' vs. LAFC: I know a ‘slap’ is a stretch, but how about we just don’t touch anyone’s faces during games?
San Jose Earthquakes soccer player stands up for gay rights: Even though he got a backlash in his native Georgia, an Earthquakes player won’t back down.
That’s all I’ve got. Hope you have a wonderful day, and stay cool!
