Well, that was a lot of fun! With last night’s win, D.C. United have a 93% chance to make the MLS Cup Playoffs, according to 538. One more win by them or one loss by Montreal will seal the deal, and they are only one point behind Columbus for the chance to jump into 5th (though Columbus ends their season against 2 very bad teams).
Let’s get into the links!
Wayne Rooney free kick gives D.C. United 1-0 win over Toronto FC - Black And Red United: Wayne Rooney’s free kick was truly fantastic, and if not for the woodwork and a questionable offside call, this should have been 2 or 3 goals.
Wayne Rooney’s ‘world class’ free kick gives D.C. United win over TFC - Black And Red United: D.C. United’s players were just as in awe of the free kick as we all are.
South Couch Report : DC v Toronto | Vocal Minority: Our friends in Canada are just ready for this season to be over.
Eric Wynalda brings a polished edge to Lights FC – Las Vegas Review-Journal: The World Cup veteran, who famously managed the Atlanta Silverbacks remotely while keeping his commentator job with Fox Sports, will follow Chelis as the second manager of Las Vegas.
Want to hear the truly crazy news about Las Vegas Lights FC hiring Eric Wynalda as their head coach? They tried to hire Landon Donovan first. Absolutely, positively serious on that.

Apparently they tried to go full-on bonkers and get Landon Donovan first, however.
Cursory look through ye olde form guide tells me this is the worst 20+ game stretch in @MLS history. Worse than the 2001 Mutiny, 2005 RSL, 2007 TFC, 2009 RBNY, 2013 DC, worse than anything Chivas ever did.

Ouch.
MP & Silva officially wound up | SportBusiness Group: Remember the group that offered MLS $4B for their TV rights if they implemented promotion and relegation? They have been liquidated due to their inability to make their payments on TV rights deals.
That’s all I’ve got. What’s up?
