D.C. United has a better idea about their first U.S. Open Cup game will be on June 14, as they will host the winner of Baltimore pub team Christos FC or PDL team Chicago FC United in the 4th round, likely at the Maryland Soccerplex.
Chicago FC United got to this position by defeating the USL Pittsburgh Riverhounds, while Christos defeated the Kickers, with both upset wins coming on the road (Jason laid out the scenarios yesterday). It would be D.C.’s first game after a break, hosting the LA Galaxy on June 3 before going on the road to play Toronto FC on June 17.
Should D.C. advance, the Round of 16 matches are scheduled for June 28, though D.C. has been eliminated in the 4th round 2 of the last 3 years (in 2014 against the USL Rochester Rhinos in New York and last year at the Maryland Soccerplex against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers).
Bring on the magic of the Cup!
