D.C. United stadium progress continues with a backhoe

One step closer.

The progress on D.C. United's new stadium continues ever forward, with the team and the city holding a ceremonial demolition of a building on the property. The event included Mayor Muriel Bowser, D.C. United players and staff, and some fans and members of the public. The District is continuing to clear and prepare the land for United, who hope to receive it to start construction on the new stadium in September. Our own Steven Streff was at the event, and took some video to mark the occasion. Plus, who doesn't want to see part of a building get torn down?

As an event, this one is fairly minor, but I am savoring every step of progress towards the stadium, which seemed liked such a pipe dream just a couple of years ago. Plus, again, building being torn down.
