Ahead of tonight’s meeting in front of the D.C. Zoning Commission, D.C. United has submitted what is presumably their presentation to the Commission. Among the information in the presentation:
- 19,000 total seats, which includes 14,700 general admission seats, 2,200 club seats and 2,100 supporters seats
- Almost 19,000 square feet of retail space, 18,973, more than their planned team office space of 18,600
The presentation also includes isometric renderings to help illustrate some of the features of the stadium around the field:
More artwork will be shown later at the hearing (but if you are resourceful, can be found on the Zoning Commission’s website now).
The other item of interest is that Southwest Land Holder LLC, who had previously requested to attend the hearing and voice their opposition to the plans at the time, have asked the Commission to withdraw their request for attendance. Presumably the delay allowed SWLH and the team to work on improvement of the plans, and some middle ground may have been reached.
As a reminder, the hearing is scheduled for 6:30pm, and a webcast should be made available, per the Commission’s website; we’ll have a live-watch thread later this afternoon, plus coverage of the hearing itself tonight.
