US youth teams and USMNT coach: Freedom Kicks for Thanksgiving 2018!

Soccer, go!

MLS: Eastern Conference Semifinal-Columbus Crew SC at New York Red Bulls Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

Out of all the big Fall and Winter holidays, Thanksgiving is my favorite: good food, good drink, no obligations besides cooking (which I already love), and ignoring the crap out of Black Friday. My family’s Black Friday tradition has become of tour of breweries around whichever city we are in, and we will continue that tradition this year. So take a moment, take a drink, and give thanks for the soccer year that we’ve had so far. To the links!

In case you missed it, we have solutions to all your Thanksgiving family situations on this week’s Filibuster!

Dave Sarachan completes tenure as USMNT interim head coach | Stars and Stripes FC: In theory, this would mean that Gregg Berhalter’s announcement is imminent, but...

This would be the most US Soccer thing to ever happen, and everyone in charge of the hiring process should be fired if it happens; not because Gregg Berhalter is this singular talent, but because they’re making all the same mistakes Sunil Gulati made when pursuing Jurgen Klinsmann.

It was a tale of two programs on the youth level yesterday, starting with the men’s U-20 national team winning the Concacaf U-20 Championship with a 2-0 victory over Mexico.

However, there was disappointment in the women’s program, with the U-17 national team getting beaten 4-0 by Germany, with the U-20 team also having crashed out recently in the group stage of a tournament as well.

The Washington Spirit’s own Franny Ordega is playing well in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Expanded eligibility rules might make the NWSL College Draft more relevant than ever | Equalizer Soccer: The NWSL College Draft is now allowing players to leave school early, allowing for a greater influx of talent more quickly into the league.

That’s all I’ve got; happy Thanksgiving!
