USMNT draw Peru, Chris Odoi-Atsem has Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and more: Freedom Kicks for October 17, 2018

Hope for a speedy recovery for COA

Happy Wednesday folks, and happy United day. I’m writing this from a hotel in Hartford after the USMNT match. By the time this posts, I will have already had a flight from Hartford back to DCA and the hell that is Gate 35X. D.C. United and the USWNT both play tonight, so let me hit you with some quick links:

USA vs. Peru, 2018 Friendly, recap: Americans concede late equalizer | Stars & Stripes FC

The United States drew Peru 1-1 in Hartford. Young Josh Sargent had the lone goal for the Americans.

D.C. United’s Chris Odoi-Atsem has Hodgkin’s lymphoma, plans to come back next season | Washington Post

Absolutely shocking news for DCU fans, as Chris Odoi-Atsem has Hodgkin’s lymphona and will begin chemotherapy. His plan is to come back next season, but I think I speak for all in saying that our hope is that he beats this thing and is simply back to 100% health soon.

Russell Canouse may be D.C. United’s most important recent signing | Black & Red United

Russell Canouse is the man, and I probably should have seen him on the field here in Hartford with the USMNT. His time will hopefully come soon, because he’s playing that well.

Usain Bolt offered two-year contract with Champions League-chasing Valletta FC | ESPNFC

Usain Bolt may be headed to Europe to play for a team in Malta. That’s pretty incredible given he just started trialing in Australia not too long ago.

Okay, that’s all I got for now. Vamos United and Go Go USA! I’m going to go go go to sleep.
