With their seventh pick on a jam-packed draft day, the Washington Spirit selected William and Mary Tribe midfielder Rachel Moore. A native of Vienna, VA, Moore was named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association First Team in each of the last two seasons.

Moore has been a consistent goalscorer in college soccer, netting 20 goals from midfield in 80 career appearances. Moore finished her career by netting five or more goals in each of her final three seasons, and added 16 assists during a four-year career in Williamsburg. Seven of her goals were game-winners for the Tribe.

Like many other Spirit draft picks, Moore has a history with the club. She has played for Washington’s WPSL Spirit Academy team, meaning that no fewer than five of the Spirit’s seven picks at today’s draft have some history with the team at the WPSL level. Moore, like Andi Sullivan and Brittany Basinger, also adds to the number of players with local roots. Those three all hail from northern Virginia, and Washington’s preference for players from the DMV is well known in league circles.
