The Washington Spirit released its 2017 preseason schedule this afternoon which features four games against top college programs. The Spirit will play their first-ever game in Virginia, a March 25 match against the University of North Carolina. All matches are free except the UNC game, which will cost $10 to the general public.
Three matches will be held at the Maryland Soccerplex and will be free and with assigned seating. The game against UNC will be held at the Evergreen Sportsplex in Leesburg, Virginia. The venue features youth soccer fields and a turf field with 1,500 bleacher seats.
The Spirit will play their first preseason game against Penn State, the 2015 NCAA College Cup champions. The match will be held on Saturday, March 18, at 2pm. The following Saturday, the Spirit will play UNC at Evergreen Sportsplex at 6:30 pm. On April 1, the Spirit will face Duke at 2pm. The Spirit will finish their preseason schedule with a game against University of Virginia. Kickoff is set for 7pm. Non-season ticket holders will need a free ticket in order to enter the games held at the SoccerPlex.
