How to watch the 2017 NWSL Draft

The Washington Spirit hold three picks in today’s draft

The 2017 NWSL Draft kicks off this afternoon at the NSCAA Convention in Los Angeles, California. The Boston Breakers currently hold four of the ten first round picks and the North Carolina Courage (i.e. the recently relocated Western New York Flash) havethe No. 2 and No. 7 overall picks. This is a crucial draft for the Washington Spirit who are trying to rebuild after losing several stars this offseason such as Crystal Dunn and Ali Krieger. In addition, three Spirit players tore their ACL this past fall which means the team will start the season missing three starters.

Preview the draft by reading our preview of the top picks and potential acquisitions for the Spirit and an article examining the Spirit’s current depth chart.

NWSL will live stream the draft, free of charge, on its Youtube channel and Facebook page. The draft begins at 3pm Eastern. Each team gets five minutes to select a player. Last year, each round took about an hour.

Mark Rogondino, Ashleigh Ignelzi, and Jen Cooper will call the draft. The broadcast can be found here or via Facebook Live.
