Washington Spirit midfielder Estefania Banini was named the NWSL Player of the Week by the NWSL Media Association. On Saturday, Banini scored two goals against FC Kansas City to deliver a 3-2 win for the Spirit. The Argentine attacker has four goals and an assist to her name this season, a boost after losing almost all of 2015 to injury. This is also the first time this season a Spirit player has been named Player of the Week, as well as Banini's first-ever NWSL player of the week nod.
Against FC Kansas City, Banini registered three shots on goal and played the full 90 minutes. She scored an incredible goal to put the Spirit up 3-1 in addition to the game's opening strike just before halftime.
