United States vs. South Africa friendly live stream 2016: Game time, TV schedule, and how to watch online

USWNT fans are hoping today's friendly gives them some idea of what the Olympic roster will look like

In the first of two send-off friendlies, the United States faces South Africa this afternoon before playing Costa Rica in Kansas City on July 22. Head coach Jill Ellis hasn't announced her 18-player squad for the Rio Olympics yet, but the game day roster will be useful insight ahead of the announcement. It's unclear exactly when the USWNT roster will be announced but the list is finalized by now.

The Banyana Banyana, as South Africa's women's team is known, has never qualified for a World Cup and at the 2012 Olympics they failed to make it past the group stage. However, South Africa played two close matches against Netherlands last month, and may be improving. It looks like South Africa will have the individual talent up top to compete with the United States but like many teams won't be able to match the USWNT's fitness or midfield.

Carli Lloyd will likely start today's match after taking time off to recover from a Grade 1 MCL sprain. Megan Rapinoe won't play today but it is looking increasingly likely the star midfielder will make the final Olympic roster despite tearing her ACL in early December.

For the Washington Spirit, Crystal Dunn and Ali Krieger will be in Chicago today with the USWNT while the Spirit take on the Chicago Red Stars at the Maryland Soccerplex. This game is a chance for Dunn to compete for minutes up top alongside Alex Morgan and Christen Press. Kelley O'Hara seems the likely starter at right back but Krieger may come on as a substitute.
