According to a France women’s national team press release, the U.S. women’s national team will play France on March 8, 2017 in Washington, DC. The friendly has not been announced by U.S. Soccer. The USWNT will host a series of friendlies this spring against Germany, England, and France as part of the federation’s SheBelieves Cup. This will be the second year of the tournament.
In the Olympics, the USWNT beat France 1-0 thanks to a goal from Carli Lloyd. France controlled much of the game but was unable to finish. U.S. versus France friendlies are often tight and hard-fought.
Last year in the SheBelieves Cup, the USWNT beat France 1-0. Alex Morgan scored a stoppage time goal to deliver the win. The United States also beat Germany and England, though all three games were close matches.
Based off the French press release, the SheBelieves Cup schedule is likely as follows:
March 1, 2017 (Chester, PA)
United States vs. Germany
France vs. England
March 4, 2017 (Harrison, NJ)
United States vs. England
France vs. Germany
March 8, 2017 (Washington, DC)
United States vs. France
England vs. Germany
