Despite reports of a broken hand, Ashlyn Harris will be one of the four members of the Washington Spirit to join the United States women's national team for their matches against France and England. The team will play France on February 8, the same day that the men's team will play Panama; they will then take on England on February 13. Harris had been the prime candidate to replace Hope Solo during the latter's suspension; US Soccer later announced that she had just broken her pinky and was able to fully participate in the recent three week camp.
Two other Washington Spirit players participated in that three week camp with Harris and will join her in these friendlies. Ali Krieger, an often-starter right back, and Crystal Dunn, who usually plays fullback, have also been with the team throughout this camp. A late addition to the team was midfielder Tori Huster, who plays a central defensive midfielder role that has often been absent from this team in recent tournaments. US Soccer recently announced the ten game buildup to the Women's World Cup this summer, of which these are the first two game.
