World Cup Qualifying: United States vs. Honduras - When Last We Met... the Yanks looked awful. Just awful.

In which we learn from the past - or at least pretend to - by looking back at the last time the USMNT played los Catrachos, in February of this year.

Just going to put this out front: the best thing about this video is Phil Schoen's being on the call (and Ray Hudson, of course). Coincidentally, that's also one of the best things about beIN Sport's gobbling up all of the USA's road qualifiers (sans Mexico) in this year's Hexagonal. I'm sure we all remember just over four months ago, when the United States traveled to Honduras to open the final round of CONCACAF qualifying for next year's World Cup in Brazil. Even if we don't really want to. After an early Clint Dempsey goal put the Yanks ahead, our boys pretty well stopped playing. The 2-1 loss was all but inevitable from there.

Team USA gets a chance for some vengeance - and an all-but-assured place in Brazil - tonight, as they host los Catrachos in Salt Lake City. The teams' fortunes have changed since February, the Yanks going top of the group - three points clear of second-place Costa Rica and Mexico - while Honduras have dropped to fourth, outside of the automatic qualifying spots and good only for a home-and-home date with New Zealand for the final spot in the World Cup's 32-team field.

So, even as the Stars and Stripes appear ready to hit the cruise control button, tonight's a big one. We'll have a scouting report later in the day, and our GameThread will be live this afternoon, as well. In the meantime, though, share your memories of the USA's inauspicious start to this year's Hex down in the comments.
