D.C. United has been rumored to be close to signing at least one player out of one of the Scandanavian leagues, and now the rumor mill has churned out a name. Markus Halsti, a defender/midfielder out of Malmo FF, is the man rumored to be signing with D.C. United, with news coming out of the Swedish press.
Markus Halsti verkar ha hittat ny klubb. Fick precis höra han är klar för DC United i MLS. Blivit en del allsvenska exporter dit nu.

Malmo, of course, is a team with which United is very familiar, having played against them twice during recent preseasons. Last season he was the captain of Malmo FF and was named to the Allsvenskan Team of the Year, and so has a fairly good pedigree to be coming into MLS. He also has 20 caps for the Finnish national team.
He is listed as a defender and a midfielder, and it looks like his experience is across the back line as well as in central midfield. Should he sign, we will have more detailed information on him as it comes, but what are your initial thoughts?
