A report out of Argentina says that D.C. United is about to sign central midfielder Agustin Carlos Farias, formerly of Nueva Chicago in Nacional B, the Argentine Second Division.
Farias (also known as "Agus" sayeth Wiki) is 26 and if the obligatory sizzle reels are any indication, looks like he is good with both feet and has good pace, though appears to be a tad small (height demos a little tough to find for Argentine B League mids at first blush).
However, if the club name Nueva Chicago sounds familiar to you, it is the past (and current) home of Christian Gomez, who only had Best XI selections in three consecutive years from 2005-2007 and was a MVP in 2006 while with D.C. United. It is worth noting that Farias apparently also has interest from Nacional B Club Atletico de Banfield and may be close to staying in the country. But as we have said before, it is not unlike Dave Kasper to bring in Argentine players in July.
Speculate and opine away, friends.
