D.C. United meets Gaetano D'Agostino in Italy?

An update to an earlier story finds parties of the team and the player meeting together...maybe.

He's on the left, in case you were curious.

A couple of weeks ago, we mentioned that there was the possibility of Gaetano D'Agostino coming to D.C. United. Now comes word from Nicolo Schira that the team and the agents for the player have met in Milan during an event titled the Wyscout Forum. According to their website, Wyscout is a database of eligible player transfers which several hundred teams use (among them D.C. and D'Agostino's current club, Siena) and it provides analysis and statistics of said players and match analyses. To borrow a phrase the company uses, it is "the speed dating of football."

Here is where things get slightly murky. Reports from Italy from Schira and another source mention that a meeting has occurred and that it was "a nice and quick meeting with DC," so maybe some proverbial tire kicking was being done. However, as far as D.C. goes their reaction to this is similar to those "del Piero to D.C." rumors - it is the first they are hearing of it, so we'll reset the Shev-biano meter just to be sure.

That said, if there proves to be movement on this past the occasional pleasant and/or cognitive meeting, we will update accordingly.
