You know its truly the MLS offseason when we start getting sketchy rumors from Honduras about all of the players in which D.C. United is interested. This rumor has slightly more legs to it, but it also has less information than a typical Honduran newspaper report. The official Twitter account for the Honduran professional soccer league says that representatives from D.C. United are in La Ceiba tonight and are watching a C.D.S. Vida home match.

Vida is a team that has produced MLS players in the past, such as Victor Bernardez and Jerry Bengtson. And it seems that, despite their poor record at it so far, D.C. United is not totally willing to give up on scouting and signing Central and South American players. My hope is that, instead of trying to sign young players as has been their recent trend, United attempts to go after more established veterans on the team.

And as a reminder, some of the ground rules for when I report rumors. I will try and give you all most of what I see out there, either here or on my twitter account; I will also try to couch these rumors with the appropriate amount of skepticism while still pondering about what it might mean for the team if it is true. If you don't like reading about rumors, feel free to skip these posts; I promise it won't hurt my feelings.

Get ready everyone. The offseason is about to crank into high gear.
