There is now a date for a proposed friendly between D.C. United and a team in Indonesia, making the team's long-rumored tour of the country even more likely. Numerous articles out of Indonesia are stating that a delegation from D.C. United, including Chief Financial Officer Michael Williamson, are currently in the country to look at stadiums and to hammer out the final agreement to bring D.C. United to that country. The game is tentatively scheduled for 8 December 2013, with the team scheduled to arrive a few days prior to that.
D.C. United's opponent in this match would be Arema FC, who finished last year in second place in the Indonesian Super League. For them, this would be a preseason friendly much in the same vein as when Malmo FF has played against United in the past two preseasons. While this is the only game that is currently scheduled, it would seem likely that United would play other matches while there; another team that United is rumored to be in talks with is Persib Bandung.
What are you thoughts on a proposed postseason tour to Indonesia?
