Filibuster Podcast: What is wrong with D.C. United?

This week, the gang moves right past the debacle against the Red Bulls and looks at the bigger picture, asking what the malfunction is. We also check in with our Philadelphia-flavored sister blog to preview United's upcoming match against the Union.

We had options this week. For this week's episode of Filibuster, our podcast, we could have broken down the plays that led to the New York Red Bulls' goals in D.C. United's loss to the hated Metros last weekend. We could have counted the ways in which various players were particularly ineffective in this match. We could have questioned Ben Olsen's decision to go with two similar strikers for a second game in a row and his substitutions.

Well, we did all of that, but that wasn't the focus. Instead, we take a step back and look at the broader issues at each position, from back to front and including the coaching. It gets a little bit long, but I think it's worthwhile. After that, we check in with Benny's press conference after the loss on Saturday, and we close out with a preview of Sunday's nouvelle rivalité against the Philadelphia Union, with a little help from our good buddy Scott Kessler, the managing editor of SB Nation's Union blog Brotherly Game.

Finally, a quick heads up: there are going to be some back-end changes at Filibuster in the very near future - hopefully before our next episode. We'll let you know more when it happens, but consider this an early warning of some changes on the technical side.
