Cake or Death? The Sainey Nyassi Question

With the 2013 season finally, mercifully behind us, it's time to run through the D.C. United roster and determine who should stay and eat cake and who should leave the team and find inevitable death. Today, we look at Gambian winger Sainey Nyassi.

USA TODAY Sports

Who is Sainey Nyassi? Do we even know? Does D.C. United? We know he's not Sanna, his twin brother who plays for Montreal. And he's not anybody else who isn't Sainey Nyassi. But what does that leave us? Can we ever know?

If you couldn't tell, Sainey Nyassi makes me feel a bit existential.

Nyassi is wicked fast, but maybe not as fast on the wing as we'd like him to be to compensate for his flawed ball skills and decision-making. His best goal-scoring chance this season came while playing fullback. He can send in a cross, but only seems to be able to do so when under pressure and when there are no good targets in the box.

Basically, he's a guy who on paper should be a quality MLS player, but he's become a bit of a journeyman, always catching on somewhere only to move along within a year or three. Our question for today is whether he should see a second season in Black-and-Red.

If you think there's room on the roster for a... whatever we decide Nyassi is, then vote Cake. If not, then vote "or Death." Don't be distracted by the implications of the hanging "or" on that second option, there's enough contradiction and ins and outs and whathaveyous inherent in Sainey already - no need to let grammar mess with you, too.

Anyway, vote in the poll and let us in the comments know where you came down on the Nyassi question.
