Oh yes, another one. This series is going to come fast and furious, with posts coming every weekday for the next six weeks. So be sure to check back every morning for the latest poll as we work our way through all 29 members of D.C. United's first team roster. Welcome to the offseason, boys and girls.
In today's edition of Cake or Death - the origins of which you can read in yesterday's post - we look at Nick DeLeon, who won the team's Goal of the Year and Coaches' awards, the only player to bring down more than one in-house honor. Despite that, nobody would confuse his sophomore campaign with the heights of his rookie season, which saw him finish runner up for MLS Rookie of the Year as well as the goal that put United into the conference finals. After scoring a United rookie record six goals last year, he found the net only twice in 2013 league play.
But all that is just context. The question at hand is not whether we approve of Nicky's 2013; it's whether we think he has a place on the 2014 roster. Do we want him back, or don't we. Will we give him cake, or death? That's where you readers come in. Let us know if NDL should come back and enjoy some cake in 2014 or if he should be pushed out the door and to his death. We're merciless like that around here.
Be sure to check in down in the comments to let us know why you voted how you did.
