MLS Power Rankings, Week 27: Playing the breaks

The MLS Power Rankings don't stop for international duty!

Chicago rejoices a rare home victory.
Chicago rejoices a rare home victory.
Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

While most of the world were on break for the FIFA international fixture window, MLS said that the window would be a great place to put Week 27 of the 2016 season. 12 teams saw action while 8 were given the week off. And though many teams were shorthanded with their stars playing for their national teams, we saw some surprising results over the course of the weekend.

The teams are now back at full strength and it will be a furious few weeks as teams seek to grab the vital points necessary to make it into the playoffs. Who's poised to take the Supporters Shield? Right now, FC Dallas has a 7-point advantage over New York City FC. On the other end, teams like our D.C. United, Orlando City, the Portland Timbers, the New England Revolution and the San Jose Earthquakes are fighting for spots in the playoffs. This month will be very important in determining if they have enough to make it to the postseason.

The comments section is open. Let us know who you think should be rising and who is on the decline. Who has the schedule left to make a run on the postseason or the Supporters Shield? Let's go...spit those hot takes!
