MLS Power Rankings, Week 24: Top 5 still alive

The top 5 teams remain unchanged in this week's Power Rankings, but who did well to move up the ladder?

Week 24 of the Major League Soccer season saw the top 5 teams in the Power Rankings stay the same, while in the Supporters Shield standings, the pack has really bunched up. While FC Dallas and the Colorado Rapids are the two teams that are above 40 points on the season, 3rd place and 13th place are separated by only 8 points.

So what do teams need to do to get above the playoff line and stay there? Well duh, wins are helpful. Many teams have inside of ten games left in the regular season, so there's not a lot of opportunity to get max points. Losses, especially at home, will only hurt their chances. This may sound like an elementary solution, but many teams now have many games packed into a tight calendar, with CONCACAF Champions League, the U.S. Open Cup final and even having league games in hand from breaks earlier in the season. The teams that can manage their schedule the best will be the ones likely playing soccer after October 23rd.

Now, take a look at the Rankings and let's hear your take. You know the drill, so hit those comments and don't hold back!
