MLS Power Rankings, Week 19: Two leaders emerge

We have two teams starting to separate from the pack in this week's Power Rankings.

Week 19 stormed into town and while there were a lot of matches where there was at least one team that didn't score (seven, to be exact), this week succeeded in learning who were the teams that are starting to put a little distance between themselves and the rest of the league. Those two teams would be FC Dallas and the Colorado Rapids. Dallas has hit its stride as the summer progresses, while Colorado has been at or near the top of the table for a couple months now. With Colorado 4 points clear of the 3rd team in the Supporters Shield standings (New York City FC) and Dallas 7 points clear, they look to be the two teams to beat in the league.

There are a host of teams that are bunched up just off the leaders' pace, and there will be plenty of opportunities to catch up to Dallas and Colorado. It has made for an interesting race to see which teams will remain above the playoff line and whether they can keep pace or fall off. Teams like the San Jose Earthquakes and the New York Red Bulls that have started out hot have cooled down, and their fans will desire their teams to make the moves necessary to get back to the top third of the table.

Dallas is your new number one team in the rankings, with Colorado falling one spot to #2. D.C. United falls 3 spots to 17 after a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day in Philly last weekend. Your basement dwellers continue to be Columbus Crew SC. But, let's hear what you think. Are Dallas and Colorado set to pull away? Will there be a couple East teams that can keep pace? Will United get back on track this weekend? You can have your takes...just hit up the comments section and keep it real!
