MLS Power Rankings, Week 30: Bunched Up

The playoff standings and the Power Rankings this week are very concentrated.

LA is back on top of the standings and the rankings.

In last week's Power Rankings, we discussed the need for those top teams in the lead to begin their final push to create some separation from the pack and secure their playoff berths. Well, take a look at the Supporters Shield standings this week and you will see the true definition of parity. 14 teams in MLS are separated by only 9 points, and with so many teams bunched up, it means that the conference playoffs standings are just as tight. With each team playing this weekend in league play before most teams sit for the international break, teams need to enter October playing their best soccer of the season if they want to ensure that they're playing all month long and into November.

The Galaxy, fresh off their victory over Dallas, leads the Supporters Shield standings and return to the top spot this week in the Power Rankings. Our beloved Black & Red fall even further this week, landing at 15th.  Montreal, who has been on fire with one Didier Drogba leading the charge, makes the biggest leap this week, from 14th to 5th. Finally, Chicago maintains its usual position in the basement of the Power Rankings.

So, let's hear your take. Is United's fall going to continue? Are people as high on Montreal and their strength right now? Who's going to make that playoff push? Comments time...hit them up and let us know.
