MLS Power Rankings, Week 29: Struggles at the top

The top teams struggled to create separation in this week's Power Rankings.

It's getting chaotic, folks. With 13 matches in Week 29, the top teams all looked to create some separation from the middle of the table and clinch berths in the 2015 MLS Playoffs. However, only the Red Bulls were able to capitalize, becoming the first (and so far, only) team to secure their place in the postseason. All of the top teams with the exception of Columbus dropped points this week. It's only creating a bottleneck in the playoff race, as many of the teams under the playoff line stepped up and got valuable wins to charge into the race.

As we enter the last weekend in September, time is running out for those teams to get the points they need to play in November. As the only team to clinch a playoff spot last week, the Red Bulls remain #1. Chicago is back in the cellar, where they are in absolute turmoil with the firing of coach Frank Yallop. United, fresh off yet another defeat in league play, drop down to 10. Teams who are hovering in that 4th-6th position in the conference standings will have to dig deep with the games they have remaining. Who wants to be in the playoffs? Who will be sitting at home? Now, time for you to comment!
