MLS Power Rankings, Week 28: Let the chase begin

The push for the playoffs has begun in this week's Power Rankings.

Week 28 didn’t see much movement among the top teams in Major League Soccer, as the top 11 teams all got at least 1 result during the week. As we enter the home stretch of the season and with a lot of teams bunched up in the playoff race, every match is critical for the teams that want to play soccer in November and December. Four teams can clinch playoff berths this week: Columbus, the Red Bulls, New England and our beloved United. For the others, the chase is only beginning and it will be a mad dash to the finish line. There are thirteen games in Week 29, and each one of them will count. The time is now for teams to stake their claim for the second season.

The Red Bulls, using the luck of the Irish or some other kind of luck, came back to beat Chicago to maintain the top spot in the Power Rankings. The Black & Red, who secured a late draw in Colorado, stays at #7. NYCFC continues to pay rent in the Boogie Down basement. Now, let’s hear your hot takes. Where do you see the teams ordered at the top? Is NYCFC really the weakest in the league in your opinion? You know the drill…head to the comments section and let us know!
