Major League Soccer All Stars versus FC Bayern Munich: TV/streaming, lineup, prediction and gamethread

Can MLS find a way to beat the best team in the world?

Lars Baron

Bobby Boswell, Sean Franklin, Bill Hamid, and the rest of the MLS All Stars take on Bayern Munich tonight, in a game pits half of the United States men's national team versus half of the Germany men's national team. The primary goal is for the three D.C. United players to stay healthy and be ready to play on Saturday; after that, I am looking for an entertaining game and I hope that MLS can somehow pull off the upset.

Kickoff time: 10:00 PM EDT

Venue: Providence Park, Portland, OR.

TV/Streaming: The game will be on TV on ESPN2 and UniMas in the United States, as well as being streamed on WatchESPN. For those of you who live in Canada, it will be available on TSN and RDS. Coverage starts at 9:30, so tune in if you want to hear talking heads.

Projected MLS starting XI: I think that NIck Rimando will start in goal, with DeAndre Yedlin, Matt Besler, Aurelien Collin, and Michael Parkhurst in defense. Michael Bradley and Osvaldo Alonso will start in defensive midfield, with Clint Dempsey, Thierry Henry, and Landon Donovan in attacking midfield. Bradley Wright-Phillips will start up top.

Prediction: While I hope that they will win, I do not believe it to be so. Give me a 3-2 victory for the Germans, although MLS will play well.

What are you drinking? I've got some Devil's Backbone Eight Point IPA and some Benchmark bourbon laying about. I won't mix the two, but it will definitely be one or the other.

As always, this is your place for all of your pre-game, in-game and post-game musings. Vamos MLS!
